Does website analysis affect page rank?

Monitoring services like servermojo and webmetrics are a good way to keep on top of your website's performance. However, it can be alarming to see the high number of bounces appearing in google analytics as a result of the monitoring services checking your site.

Do these bounce rates lower your page rank?
There has to be a little uncertainty here because of the secrecy surrounding the page rank algorithms. However I can answer this question with a pretty confident no, your page rank will not be affected by analysis sites checking your website.

Why not?

Bounce rate is a good measure of disatisfaction with a site matching a particular key word or phrase. As such it is almost certainly used by the page rank algorithm and a high bounce against an apparently relevant key phrase will lower a site's page rank.

However, the analysis sites (and almost all bots for that matter) access sites using URLs rather than by going through a search or link. As such there is never any relevant key phrase or keyword data to tie the bounce to and therefore it is highly unlikely that these bounces will have any impact on page rank.

This is how Google wants it too because these kinds of page access comprise a significant part of web traffic that clearly has no relevance regarding the site's popularity.

If you are concerned with the bounces mucking up your google analytics reports you can filter them out. Here are some detailed instructions from Webmetrics you can use for the purpose.

Bounce rate
Very true that bounce rate is good measure of dissatisfaction and search engines can easily detects your bounce rate.Bounce rate is the percentage of visits where the visitor enters and exits at the same page without visiting any other pages on the site in between.Use this metric to measure visit quality - a high bounce rate generally indicates that site entrance pages aren't relevant to your visitors. The more compelling your landing pages, the more visitors will stay on your site and convert. The bounce rate alone might not be used by Google but combined with other factors, it could have an effect on the rankings.
